Welcome
Doscore is a freedos distribution that features internet connectivity and network through the old dinosaur operating system known as dos and a modern graphical user interface co-developed by doscore & finntech since 2007 Aura gui for dos.

8 Months Development?
Due to Chase and my own busy schedule we haven't had much time for M3, so the past 8 months we have been on a hiatus status until we figured out what to do with Aura M3. TCP/IP is still our top priority and over the past weekend we have been looking at the wattcp code again after some of the failures we had in unstable releases of orchid web browser during development of m2. So far its looking like we may release a Aura m2.5 (kinda release..) if we get the wattcp library to work properly if not you will just have to wait for the M3 release.

Something funny relax youtube fans
I
cannot help but laugh when people post on our youtube videos "ive never seen the point of freedos as an everyday operating system. just use linux" or "waste of time". this is not the aim of doscore + aura to take over the mainstream computer market. this just a fun side project for dos nerds & geeks that like to muck around with DOS.

April + Updates 1298 Nemisis + Freedos 1.1 (unofficial)
I rounded up all the latest versions of device drivers and internal apps within freedos to create a sum-what freedos 1.1 (if you could call it that) and jammed together a new live cd "nemisis" (i know we are running out of names)

Pretty good reception over the last 2 weeks over 100 downloads which is pretty good considering this is dos! lol. I also forgot to add the update manager but it doesnt matter anyway its pretty crappy.

Under The Hood online updates
Basically a small program that will fetch updates from the Doscore server and download & install them. i have been testing this today and seems to work fine :)

Updates!!! Aura 1290 M2 Release 2 (Feb 2011)

Aura 1290 R2 (Release 2) will have some minor updates as i noticed i missed a few files missing & other small mistakes i have become aware of..Also the milestone 2 "R" series will lead up to the M3 release (probably wont be out for 6months to a year). So this Live CD will be out soon with minor updates and hopefully we can get this damn Orchid web browser out to the public.

Aura M2! Its Finally here!!!!

Aura M1 Was released in 2009! and it took us till the end of December 2010 to finish Milestone 2 and then we got a bit lazy with being away over the xmas period to release the M2 live Distro.. We figured what better way to start the fresh year off with a fresh distro!!!. The aura gui is now in Beta!! so its pretty stable! many things have been fixed and programs have been updated etc..!! check the finncomputers forums for support guys and please give us your feedback! I also added a few quick screenshots of the new desktop for those just passing by to have a look.

Later on in the next few weeks we will introduce the doscore web browser Orchid. it was supposed to be in this release!! but we had a few bugs here & there so we are holding it back jus for a little bit but you can use doslynx (included) & batch based web retrieval (wget & htget) now that aura can run dos apps including batch files i have been playing with Wget from batch files to download webpages & files. its all a work in progress and with a team of only 2 people development isnt always booming.

freedos and graphical user interfaces debacle
I know there will be many freedos fans who want a gui made for low end systems and there will be people who think trying to develop freedos as a modern day system is a waste of time but aura is not about this. There are soooo many good low end GUI's being developed out there just look at theguiblog.com run by brandon cornell and the great community there that developed great guis so it would be a waste of time for us to just make another project.

Often we are asked why don't you develop Seal 2 or just keep developing Ozone Gui as it was. basically and eventually Aura will move towards running its own apps apposed to running native dos based applications.

and this project is just for FUN! so please don't take things so seriously. if you don't like what we are doing here you always have the option to go develop your own freedos based distribution.

Thank you.
